Russian Language Flagship
An intensive language and culture training program.
The Flagship Program stopped admitting new students on June 1, 2024
The Bryn Mawr Russian Domestic Flagship program has stopped admitting new students starting June 1, 2024. Prospective students interested in pursuing the study of Russian at Bryn Mawr still have a wealth of opportunities available:
- An intensive Russian language track from elementary Russian through advanced Russian
- Content courses in Russian and English offered at Bryn Mawr, Haverford, and Swarthmore Colleges
- A Russian major
- A Russian minor
- Study abroad in a Russian-speaking country such as Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Georgia, or Armenia
- Funding opportunities for summer study abroad
The Russian Language Flagship at Bryn Mawr College was created under the auspices of the National Security Education Program (NSEP)/National Flagship Language Program (NFLP) to address the critical need for U.S. professionals to use Russian at the highest levels of functional proficiency. The ultimate goal of the program is for all students to reach the "superior level" (ILR level 3) of proficiency in Russian according to ACTFL proficiency guidelines.
Bryn Mawr's program is one of only eight Russian Language Flagship programs in the United States. It is the only Russian Flagship program located at a women's college.
