Biography

Research Program

The Melvin Laboratory focuses on organic/organometallic chemistry with aims to produce new and improved synthetic strategies.  With pharmaceutical molecules growing ever more complicated, we need novel methods to tackle challenging transformations and stitch together important bonds.  Specifically, two projects in our laboratory include: 1) the development of ligands for metal-catalyzed reactions and 2) investigations into a new class of molecules to help install fluorine into organic compounds.  Both of these projects develop innovative methodologies that ultimately target relevant pharmaceutical and agrochemical compounds.
