Biography

Gail has worked in several positions enabling her to contribute to the training of helping professionals:  overseeing student services at a college of public health and at a rabbinical college, directing pre-professional advising at a large university, and serving at a think tank on health, faith, and ethics, where she explored roles of clergy in the context of illness. She continues to write and to teach about aging, the experience of illness and health, and the intersections of health and faith. She has been writing about and organizing training sessions on strategies to enhance advising for prehealth students with disabilities.  Gail studied religion at Temple University and earned a PhD from the University of Pennsylvania, where she looked at medicine and at education using tools from the social sciences. Having been ordained by the Reconstructionist Rabbinical College, Gail has served a congregation.

She and her husband live near campus. They collaborate on writing about aging and enjoy spending time with family.
