Reclaiming Old Library: Histories, Harm, and Healing
The entire Bryn Mawr College community is invited to begin the process of reclaiming Old Library. The event will begin with a building history and with personal narratives shared by Professor Emeritus of Sociology Mary Osirim, Rob Williams from Housekeeping, and Fatmata Sesay '23 about their experiences of the space, and move to a special dance performance that will launch both the process of reckoning with Old Library and this year's Enid Cook '31 Center (ECC) Legacy Weekend. All members of the community are invited to share hopes for a new collective future for this space.
Special thanks to Assistant Professor of Dance Lela Aisha Jones, student dancers, and the ECC for the opportunity to celebrate Legacy Weekend as part of this gathering.
A second event, Imagining a New Old Library, will take place on Friday, April 21 on Taylor Drive from 12:30-2 p.m. Students, faculty, and staff are invited to bring their creativity to share ideas about future Old Library spaces. There will be music and ice cream from Brotherly Love Ice Cream Truck!
Bryn Mawr College welcomes the full participation of all individuals in all aspects of campus life. Should you wish to request a disability-related accommodation for this event, please contact the event sponsor/coordinator. Requests should be made as early as possible.
