Perceptual Diversity

Adrienne Prettyman, Associate Professor and Chair of Philosophy

Each person perceives the world uniquely based on their experiences. Professor Prettyman will examine the implications of perceptual diversity for our understanding of knowledge and demonstrate how it can foster a more inclusive learning environment.

Fantastic Phagocytes: Ancient Mechanisms of Immunity in Health and Disease

Adam Williamson, Assistant Professor of Biology

Professor Williamson and undergraduate research students in his lab use microscopes and other tools to understand the cell biology of the immune system, with a particular interest in immune cells called phagocytes that eat dead cells and other debris. They do this work to understand how the immune system protects sensitive organs like the brain and learn what goes wrong in immune-related diseases of the nervous system.
