Concert: West Philadelphia Orchestra (Brass Band)
On Monday, March 2 at 7 PM, the Department of Music presents the West Philadelphia Orchestra, a brass band inspired the Romani brass "orkestars" and "fanfares" of Eastern Europed. Known for stellar musicianship and dynamic live shows, the band’s sound is large, loud, and extremely danceable. WPO plays a wide-range of music including traditional Balkan music, klezmer-music, New Orleans style ‘jazz,’ and a bit of frevo, ska, and American pop music. In their live performance the band focuses on their original compositions which meld all of those influences together. This concert will be held in the Michael Jaharis Recital Hall and is free and open to the public. For more information: hc-concerts@haverford.edu
