Exhibition Opening: 'Flooding', Incubation Series IX hosted by AUTOMAT in Philadelphia, Jan. 26

Join us for the opening of the exhibition Flooding (Incubation Series IX), on Friday, January 26^th at AUTOMAT in Philadelphia, curated by Laurel McLaughlin (Bryn Mawr College, History of Art) and Tamir Williams (University of Pennsylvania, History of Art). The event begins at 6pm. 

From the event coordinators: "The exhibition explores the malleability, porosity, and transformative nature of memory and 'rememory.' As Toni Morrison describes in her poignant essay 'The Site of Memory,' rememory, like the water of the Mississippi remembering its river beds, is the work of things “forever tr[ying] to get back to where [they were],” often born in “a rush of imagination”—a 'flooding.' The four artists, Danièle Dennis, James Allister Sprang, Monika Uchiyama, and Eric Yue, consider such “flooding,” or rememory, in relation to personal, collective, familial, and cultural encounters." A conversation with the artists is planned for February 8^th at AUTOMAT from 6 - 7:30pm.
