Alani Hicks-Bartlett '05, M.A. '06, has accepted a prestigious postdoctoral fellowship from the American Association of University Women for study at the University of California, Berkeley. Hicks-Bartlett will use her 2017-18 fellowship to continue her project titled The Cure Gone Awry: Gender, Dis/ability, and the Ailing Empire. Her project is an investigation into perceived notions of “alterity," gender, and disability in the Early Modern European period. Her achievement follows her recent joint Ph.D. in Romance Languages and Literatures and Medieval Studies from the University of California, Berkeley.
Hicks-Bartlett received her A.B. in 2005 in Spanish, French, and Italian and her M.A. in French Language and Literature in 2006, both from Bryn Mawr College. She also holds master's degrees from Middlebury College in both Italian and Spanish.
