As social workers, we encounter individuals from all walks of life, each with unique grief experiences throughout their lives. Disenfranchised grief, which occurs when a person’s loss is not openly acknowledged or socially recognized, can be difficult to address. Anticipatory grief, experienced before a pending loss, is equally significant to other types of grief, but often overlooked.

By attending this presentation, social workers will gain essential knowledge and tools to support their clients through these intricate grief journeys, ultimately enhancing their therapeutic abilities and promoting better mental health outcomes.
