As we begin the semester, we're highlighting Bryn Mawr's newest faculty members. The College supports faculty excellence in both research and teaching.
Assistant Professor of Social Work Tamarah Moss
Moss' main research interests are threefold: 1) evaluation in community practice and health service delivery; 2) health equity among pregnant adolescents, LGBTQ+ and HIV positive communities; 3) international social work and social work education.
She is currently the primary investigator for evaluation on a demonstration project designed to advance hospital services for youth who have been sex trafficked, and those at risk in Washington, DC. Children’s National Health System are the prime recipients for this work, funded by the Department of Justice's Office of Victims of Crimes. Moss was selected as a 2019-2020 scholar for the Leaders in Equitable Evaluation and Diversity (LEEAD) Scholar Program. The LEEAD program, designed to develop a pathway for diverse leaders in culturally responsive and equitable evaluation (CREE), was pioneered by the Annie E. Casey Foundation and is currently being coordinated by Change Matrix under the Expanding the Bench (ETB) initiative, which focuses on race and ethnicity equity and inclusion. The mission of ETB is to support diverse evaluators and funders of evaluation to value, practice, and promote a culturally responsive and equitable evaluation ecosystem.
Bryn Mawr's Graduate School of Social Work and Social Research prepares students to become effective social work practitioners, advocates for social and economic justice, and leaders in the social work profession. Students learn about work with individuals, families and groups, as well as social work with organizations and communities. Students learn a holistic approach to social work practice with an emphasis on the importance of diversity and inclusion. GSSWSR's accredited program awards a Master of Social Service (M.S.S.) degree, which is equivalent to an M.S.W.
