Isabel Sangeun Lee Presents at the Inaugural Joint Forum of KASWEA and KIHASA

Isabel Sangeun Lee, a candidate for a Ph.D. in the Graduate School of Social Work and Social Research, presented her work on integrating physical and mental health for older adults in the United States at the inaugural Joint Forum of the Korean American Social Work Education Association (KASWEA) and Korea Institute for Health and Social Affairs (KIHASA). This event was held during the 28th annual Society for Social Work and Research conference in Washington D.C.

KASWEA is a non-profit organization committed to promoting social work education, practice, and research in Korean American communities in the U.S. and overseas. KIHASA is a renowned think tank based in South Korea, focusing on health, welfare, and social policy. It has signed over fifteen MOUs globally, including with prestigious institutions like the University of Oxford (UK), the National University of Singapore (Singapore), Osaka City University (Japan), the University of California, Berkeley, and the University of Georgia. Together, these organizations held a joint forum to address several issues related to child welfare and mental health.

Lee's research focuses on burnout among bicultural and bilingual Asian human service workers, including social workers, through the lens of Asian critical race theory.
