Dear GSAS students,
There are a few additions to the list of expectations for returning to campus that you received on July 6, 2020.
- For students who are enrolled in classes held in-person, and for any students who are teaching assistants or instructors and will be in a classroom or working in a lab with undergraduate students, you will be required to quarantine and be tested for COVID-19 before the start of class. Testing for graduate students is tentatively scheduled for Aug. 31. Following the test, you are required to quarantine until negative test results are received, during which time you should limit movement beyond the home to essential tasks and limit in-person social contact. Solitary outdoor activities are permitted. For essential tasks beyond the home that require in-person interaction, masks must be worn and at least a six-foot physical distance maintained. Should you test positive for COVID -19, the Health Center will be in contact regarding specific procedures, such as additional quarantining at home before returning to campus. You should expect to participate in periodic testing and monitoring as may be required by the College.
- It is strongly recommended that all GSAS students get a flu shot that will be available at the Health Center. If you experience symptoms that suggest Covid-19 you should contact the Bryn Mawr College Health Center immediately to seek an evaluation or arrange for testing.
- You should keep a journal of personal contacts to aid in contact tracing should you become infected or have close contact with another infected person.
- As has been asked of faculty and staff, graduate students should limit all nonessential personal travel unless it involves no increased risk. Any travel with additional risk to COVID-19 exposure must be followed by quarantine for 14 days before returning to campus.
The above expectations are in addition to the personal behaviors specified in the Return to Campus Agreement from July 6: do a daily COVID symptom check, wear a mask, maintain social distancing of 6 feet, frequently wash hands, practice safe sneeze etiquette, and stay at home when ill and COVID-symptomatic. The Community Health and Safety Guide provides a comprehensive list of information.
We all have an important role in keeping the Bryn Mawr College community safe and healthy. Please keep in mind how your choices (going to bars or indoor dining facilities (restaurants), house parties or large gatherings) might adversely impact the health of members of the BMC community.
Be safe, be well.
