Susan Band Horwitz ’58, an internationally renowned molecular pharmacologist, received the 2019 Canada Gairdner International Award for her groundbreaking research on the drug Taxol, which has been used to treat cancers of the ovary, breast, and lung in millions of cancer patients worldwide.
This award acknowledges top biomedical scientists who have made original contributions to medicine with the goal of contributing through research to increased understanding of human biology and disease.
