One of the most important steps of online teaching is conducting a needs analysis of our students’ access to technology and specific situations that could affect online learning. When creating College-wide online programs, this needs analysis can take semesters or years before we get the right knowledge that will inform the creation of a program.
Margaret Strair, Instructor of German at Bryn Mawr college, created this online learning survey for her students in order to gather information that will help plan her course. The questionnaire can be used as-is or can be modified depending on the specific needs or questions of different departments/courses.
Assistant Professor of Environmental Studies, Sara Grossman also created this questionnaire which instructors can use as a model to gain student Information for remote access.
We encourage instructors to explore both surveys and to use a combination of questions that is right for their class and students.
