Laura Brower Hagood '95 has been named the new executive director of the Historical Society of Washington D.C., reports The Washington Post. Hagood majored in English at Bryn Mawr.

"Hagood, 46, comes to the historical society from the National Building Museum, where she was vice president of development. It’s her second time at the HSW. In 2001 she served as the group’s director of public relations and marketing. She’s also worked at the Biltmore Estate in Asheville, N.C., and at Cultural Tourism DC, where she helped create the neighborhood heritage trails that dot the city."

Hagood first worked for the Historical Society in 2001 under the leadership of Barbara Franco '65. Yet another Mawrter, Mary Hewes '56, once served as interim director. Retired, Hewes is now on the editorial board for the magazine the Historical Society publishes, Washington History.
