The following email was sent to faculty and staff by Director of Service and Activism Ellie Esmond on Wednesday, October 28.
Dear Friends and Colleagues,
LILAC | Civic Engagement runs an Election Day shuttle every year to help facilitate student voting. The shuttle takes students from Pem Arch to our polling place at Bryn Mawr Presbyterian Church (625 Montgomery Avenue) in a continuous loop.
This year we will be running the shuttle on Election Day--Tuesday, November 3--at the following times:
11:30 am - 1 pm
4:00 pm - 7:00 pm
I am looking for volunteers to drive the van during the 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm shift. If you are a certified Bryn Mawr College van driver and would be willing to drive for an hour (or two!), please email me back to let me know your availability.
Driving the Election Day van is really fun. Many of our students are voting for the first time and it is an exciting experience for them. Speaking from personal experience, it is really great to see how excited they are about voting and to be a part of that moment. A person's first voting experience is a really important one and we hope to do everything we can to make it positive so that students will continue to vote throughout their lives.
Thank you in advance for your help!
