Madeline Cantor, Director of Bryn Mawr's Dance Program, will be presenting her new solo Hidden Stories as part of the New Releases Showcase at Dance Place in Washington, D.C., on March 21. This annual juried program features new work by established and emerging choreographers.
Cantor received a B.A. from Barnard College and has an M.F.A. from the University of Michigan. She performed and choreographed as a member of Dance Conduit from 1980-89 and continues to work independently. She has been awarded grants for her choreography and is active as a guest choreographer with college and youth companies, community groups and professional companies, including Nimbus Dance Works, which currently has several of her dances for young audiences in its repertory. At Bryn Mawr, she teaches technique, composition, repertory, and praxis courses in arts teaching and dance appreciation and has received the College’s Rosalyn R. Schwartz teaching award.
The Dance Program offers a rich array of dance experiences for the many and diverse students who choose Bryn Mawr and Haverford Colleges. It welcomes the newcomer as well as supports the continuing progress of trained dancers.
