Dear Students, Faculty, and Staff:
As you may have seen, President Biden has today declared Juneteenth a federal holiday, which will be observed in this, its inaugural year, on June 18. I join many of you in celebrating this acknowledgment of this important date.
Due to the late announcement of this holiday and our planned class schedules, this year the College must provide courses on June 18 as planned and promised. However, in recognition and celebration of Juneteenth, the College will close at noon on June 18. All staff should check with their supervisors regarding work planned or required for this time.
We are committed to full closure of the College for Juneteenth in the coming years, in commemoration of the date on which the Emancipation Proclamation was finally implemented across the entirety of the country.
