Astrid Rodrigues '06, a digital producer at The Philadelphia Inquirer, won a Mid-Atlantic Regional Emmy for her work on a documentary about Philadelphia's Italian Market.
“Italian Market: Love on 9th Street,” won in the Feature News Report-Light Feature category, and tells the love story of two merchants who met in the Italian Market 35 years ago. In the 190-year history of The Inquirer, this year's ceremony was the first time their journalists won Emmy Awards.
"Bryn Mawr was a place that allowed me to explore things that piqued my interest. Did I want to study English or French or film? Why not all? I felt the freedom to learn about things I was curious about. And if I didn’t find it at Bryn Mawr, I could create it. Looking back, I think being at Bryn Mawr taught me that I have a choice and it’s okay to break the mold. I feel fortunate to have the opportunity to do that." –Astrid Rodrigues '06
