Haven focuses on the Bryn Mawr philosopher and Slavic scholar and the story of his decades-long collaboration with the Russian Nobel poet Joseph Brodsky. According to the Times Literary Supplement, Kline, an important figure for many generations of Bryn Mawr students, “emerges as human, warm and vividly idiosyncratic in the pages of Haven’s volume.” Writer Marat Grinberg, who called the book a “fitting tribute” to George Kline, noted that “the conversations are rich in detail, from Kline’s recollections of visiting Brodsky in the Soviet Union to his work on translating his poetry to offering an insight into Brodsky’s oeuvre and worldview.” (Academic Studies Press, 2021)
